"I believe that enthusiasm is the most important thing in teaching. A teacher must be enthusiastic about what he or she is teaching and the student will feel this enthusiasm and that will create a good atmosphere in the class.
"My teaching philosophy is based on the facilitation of student learning through hands-on experiences or learn by doing. I strongly believe that the key to learning is through collaboration in a relevant and applied environment. In order to accomplish this, I employ a problem-based learning approach comprised of a variety of activities, exercises, demonstrations, and other classroom experiences. In addition, given the complexities and challenges that often arise in the organisational environment my pedagogical approach frequently mimics the real world n order to develop students' critical thinking skills necessary for coping with this situation.
"Learning is a life-long process which takes place in a variety of environments. In a classroom setting, learning involves challenging, motivating, and inspiring students to think, probe, and explore their understanding of a topic in an active and stimulating manner. To that end, effective teaching involves a great deal than standing in front of students and conveying to them the "facts" of a discipline. For me, teaching is a collective and reflective enterprise in which teachers and students (at all levels) learn from each other and each other's experiences in a respectful and thoughtful environment. Specifically, my role as a teacher is to (a) encourage students to continually ask questions about why and how we know something, (b) help students develop the skills needed to answer their questions, (c) awaken students' passions to become life-long learners, (d) help students appreciate and respect varying perspectives."
