The post of assistant Dean of Fashion Design has enabled me to focus on the design courses that we offer and develop the student's creative skills which are paramount to becoming exciting designers. The students at AIU are from a broad range of backgrounds, providing an exciting and interesting teaching experience.
My background is in Fashion Design. I completed an MA in Fashion at the Royal College of Art. In the past I have worked for Vivienne Westwood and Joop! Currently I work freelance as an illustrator and designer. Clients include Gap, New Look, Top Man, Miss Selfridge, TANK magazine, Textile VIEW and Time Out London.
I encourage students to always experiment with their design abilities. I believe a student must always try to break the rules and think as individuals. This way what they have to offer will hopefully be unique and therefore – modern. To be successful fashion designers, students must have an awareness of current fashion and all that has an effect on it. Students must understand that film, music, graphics and especially art, all play an important role in today's design climate.
