Success at AIU London
AIU London is very proud of the outcomes we have achieved. Not only have our graduates mastered the academic content of their programs, they have expressed a very high level of satisfaction and career accomplishment. Here are some selected highlights:
Our Students
The AIU London student body is comprised of over 75 nationalities, which means students have the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of international issues. The teaching staff also comes from all over the world and brings a rich diversity of ideas, perspectives and professional experience into every class.
For many years, AIU has offered this innovative approach to education at its campus in London, established in 1977. Since then, as an international institution of higher education, AIU London encourages global understanding by providing an atmosphere of cultural diversity and opportunities for international education.
Here are some of the thoughts our current and former students have shared with us:
N. Corren Conway
B.F.A. in Visual Communication
"It is hard to make a living as an artist alone. You must be business savvy too. Photography is definitely art, but, if you want to live off your art, you must be aware it is also a business and treat it as such. AIU [London] cultivated my artistic ability and taught me how to use my talent not only as a way to express myself but also as a medium of speaking to people. Since graduation I've been focusing a little more on my business skills and how to expand my photography company, Forever 12."
Anne Linn Ose
B.F.A. in Interior Design
Looking back on her time at AIU, Anne Linn says she really enjoyed classes such as AutoCAD, Senior Thesis Design, Portfolio, and Universal. "The last year of my education was the best and my favorite, as I could see everything I had learned come together in great projects."
Amber Eastcott
B.F.A. in Media Production
"I liked the professors and the small class sizes that are standard at AIU. Both make it very easy to get a lot of feedback and one-on-one time with professors and other students. I am also absolutely in love with the city of London. I am lucky enough to meet amazing people every day and I have made great friends.
Students in the Media Production department (now the Mass Communications department) are given a reasonable amount of freedom with their classes. We can choose what course offerings we are most interested in and make that our concentration."
Uzma Irfan
Bachelor of Business Administration
"The education I'm receiving at AIU has helped me view things in a different light, think critically, and be objective; emotions have no place in the business world. I am now equipped with the business acumen and ready to put the theories I have learned to the test.
One of the things I like best about AIU is that you get an overall education. Whether your major is business or fashion, you are required to take general electives that enhance your overall understanding of the world."
Anne Johansson
Fashion Design and Marketing
"I studied Fashion Design and Marketing at AIU London. I gained a very good insight into the fashion industry in general at AIU London thanks to the fantastic tutors (who all had industry experience) and through my internships which I value a lot. I was at London Fashion Week, Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Renaissance PR, Louis Mariette couture milliner to name a few. General fashion knowledge is an advantage in any role you have within fashion and I highly recommend looking into all aspects and learning as much as possible."
Becky Kirchhoff
B.F.A. in Visual Communication
"I started at AIU London straight out of high school. It was a big decision to make at age 18, and after three years I still get homesick every now and then, but I'd make the same decision again if I had to.
I still have a year to go, but I believe that my college education has made me a more cultured person, taught me to gain knowledge from other students, trained me in time management, taught me to explore new things, and also to stretch my boundaries."

Cultural Activities and Study Tours
Cultural Activities
Each term we at AIU London plan a wide range of events that expose our degree seeking and Study Abroad students to the rich history of London, the vibrant culture of Britain and how these connect with life in a number of other exciting parts of Europe.
During their time at AIU London, students are able to travel to many of Europe's most exciting cities, immerse themselves in some of the world's best theatre, ballet, museum and gallery exhibitions and even cheer-on England's sporting heroes at venues like the magnificent Wembley Stadium.
Our aim is provide our students with an experience that will be unforgettable, of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to see a culture from its inside and to enjoy all that this can offer.
Study Tours
AIU London traditionally offers its students the chance of visiting various parts of the world to help acquaint the students with an understanding of a range of world cultures and equip them with knowledge of how their field of study is practiced in different regions. Recent trips have visited locations as varied as Tokyo, Bangkok, Mumbai, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, but this was the University's first trip to Dubai and we caught the city at such a fascinating point in its history.
AIU's study tours are designed not just to enable our students to meet with professionals working within their chosen field but to explore and understand the culture of whichever host country we visit.
At the end of the tour to Dubai in March 2009 all students agreed that it had been one of the most fulfilling experiences of their time at University. Next year will be a different destination for the AIU Study Tour, but for those who went to Dubai the memories of such an exciting city will last a life-time!
Testimonials from students:

"I would recommend the study tour to a friend because it was a great way to experience a new culture and bond with AIU's students and faculty." - Seif ElSeif, Saudi Arabia
"Amazing!" - Sheheryar Arshad, Pakistan
Student Council
- Promoting Student Success
Meet the AIU London Student Council
Jason J. Ault
Media Productions Student from Zanesville, Ohio
Interest: As an active student within the Media Department, I would like to facilitate changes to better build bridges of communication between Students and University staff.
Outcomes: Jason's involvement with the Student Council has helped improve the exhibition of student work in and around the campus; as well as on the University website. The suggestion he has made of implementing a club system to help students across departments interact regularly has seen a great deal of success.
Jenny Liu
Fashion Design with Marketing Student from Guam
Interest: Continuing to work with the members of FADM (Fashion Association of Design & Marketing) to enhance the communication between the students and faculty/staff of the Fashion department. I'm also interested in supporting the AIU Football team through attending their games and encouraging their efforts in collaborating not only in the classrooms but also on the fields.
Outcomes: With great teamwork from the members of FADM, we've successfully held our Launch Event Luncheon early April and are continuously recruiting new members into FADM. Throughout the process, I've built relationships with supportive faculty and staff of AIU London, most especially Gill Stark, Boris Glick, Kimberley Beltgens and Tony Skitt, and this has allowed for events to happen and be in the making.
Yannick Kisula
International Business Student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Interest: As a business student, I am interested in contributing my ideas on how we can form a well organized and competitive football team, without having to spend a large amount of money.
Outcomes: My involvement in the university football team has led to training sessions every Saturday, a new email address where all players can communicate as well as the fans and other students who are interested in contributing their ideas in the football team. With the help of every team member, a new football kit will be purchased within a week. The team is composed of very talented players and students interested in football, we take every member's ideas seriously, analyze them, and apply them to the team if necessary.
In order to build a strong team, we will be organizing football games within the university. My involvement in the team has also led to a football match (AIU football team vs. University staff members), a series of games in the summer, including one with Regent's Business School before the end of this term. With the help of Tony Skitt, hopefully we will get into a football competition next fall and win trophies.
Alumni Careers
Graduates from AIU London can move on to careers they were looking for during their studies with us or to careers they have been inspired by their lecturers and whilst on internship assignments, gaining valuable work experience.
We are proud of each and every success of our Alumni. At the same time, we are looking forward to seeing the same success from our current students, either Degree seeking or Study Abroad students, who chose AIU London as a foundation to pursue their future career.
At AIU London, we pride ourselves with careers and internship guidance we have been able to provide to our students for many years, following the success of our Alumni and our services. This encourages our staff to build solid relationships with potential employers, next to the benefits of being taught by lecturers-professionals in their field of teaching.
100% of our students, who took part in our AIU Graduate Questionnaire survey in 2009, did feel ready for graduate employment after leaving AIU London.
